Fatal crash on the Darnytskyi Bridge — Tesla driver faces up to 8 years in prison

The Tesla driver, traveling at 189.7 km/h, collided with a Suzuki and a Lanos, resulting in the death of a 63-year-old female passenger. He is charged with violating traffic rules that caused a death.

Law enforcement officers have referred an indictment to court in a case concerning a fatal road accident that occurred at the end of April not far from the exit from the Darnytskyi Bridge. This was reported by UNN, citing the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv.

The investigation established that the Tesla driver, traveling toward the right bank, was driving at three times the speed limit (189.7 km/h) and collided with Suzuki and Lanos vehicles traveling in the same direction. At the time of the accident, the Tesla driver was sober.
The Lanos passenger, a 63-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries and died at the scene of the accident. No other participants in the accident were injured.
The 32-year-old Tesla driver was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles, if this caused the death of a victim. The article provides for imprisonment for 3 to 8 years, with a possible deprivation of the right to drive for up to 3 years.
