An explosion occurred at a hydroelectric power plant near the Italian city of Bologna. As a result, three people were killed and five were injured, ANSA agency reports, UNN reports. Four more people are missing.

At the time of the explosion, there were 15 people at the facility, according to other media reports - 12. Local authorities reported that the hydroelectric power plant was undergoing work, during which a turbine exploded. The explosion occurred on the 8th floor, causing the building on the floor above to collapse. The ninth floor was flooded. Carabinieri and about 60 firefighters are working at the scene.
There are two production groups at the power plant, the municipal authorities explained. One of them was responsible for maintenance. On April 9, it was planned to conduct a test, but an explosion occurred when the equipment was turned on. The causes are being investigated. The prosecutor's office assured that it will launch an investigation after all the missing persons are found.
