European Gymnastics has restored the flag and anthem for athletes from Russia and Belarus. This decision follows a similar move by the International Gymnastics Federation.
The Executive Committee of the European Gymnastics Federation has restored the flag and anthem for Russian and Belarusian athletes. This was stated in a press release by European Gymnastics, as reported by UNN.
Details
As stated in the release, following the decision of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) published on May 18, 2026, regarding the lifting of all restrictions on Russian and Belarusian athletes and the immediate suspension of temporary rules, the Executive Committee of European Gymnastics held an additional online meeting on Thursday, May 21.
European Gymnastics will follow the decision of the International Gymnastics Federation to lift all restrictions applicable to the participation of Russia/Belarus, as the FIG temporary rules are no longer in effect. This decision will be ratified at an extraordinary online General Assembly to be held in the near future
