EU has no plans for Trump's presidency - Borrell

EU High Representative Josep Borrell said there were no plans for a Trump presidency in the United States. Instead, the EU is focusing on strengthening its own defense capabilities and autonomy.
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the European Union has no plans for the presidency of Donald Trump, who was elected during the US elections. Borrell told this to Suspilne, reports UNN.
We certainly do not have a plan for a Trump presidency. But we do have a plan to strengthen the autonomous capabilities of Europeans to ensure safety and security. 7 years ago, when Trump's first presidential term began, many European leaders said that we have to take our destiny into our own hands. And this is still true. We have to take our destiny in our own hands
He noted that the United States has been and continues to be an important partner and is one of the largest providers of security within NATO.
“But we have to take our part - more responsibility for our safety and security. We have already started to do this, but we have to continue to do it faster,” Borrell added.
