Petr Pavel supports the introduction of stricter restrictions on certain types of weapons in the Czech Republic. The president proposes to ban the use of silencers for short-barreled weapons and is considering additional restrictions.

Czech President Petr Pavel is in favor of introducing more significant restrictions on certain types of weapons. This was reported by Interior Minister Vit Rakusan after today's meeting with the Czech president in Prague Castle, UNN reports with reference to Radio Prague.

"Mr. President was interested in how far we have progressed in discussing the Law on Weapons," said the Interior Minister, adding that the President's Office will submit a proposal to ban the use of silencers for short-barreled weapons.

"We advocate that this device should not be widely used. As a person who knows about weapons, the president gave many examples and explanations why this should not be done. He even responded to some of the arguments that were raised in the Chamber of Deputies. Probably, the president would have gone even further in restricting certain types of weapons," the minister said.
