As part of the Czech initiative, Ukraine could potentially receive 1.5 million shells, almost twice as many as previously promised, which would help Ukraine fight better by ensuring a steady supply of fresh ammunition.

Under the Czech initiative, Ukraine could potentially receive 1.5 million shells. This was stated  by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky , which is almost twice as much as previously promised. This was reported by UNN with reference to Bloomberg.

We can do much more than the initially announced figure.

- said the chief spokesman in his office, giving Bloomberg a figure of 1.5 million shells as a potential volume.

Czech diplomat Jan Lipavsky also noted that Ukrainian forces are benefiting from the plan to deliver hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition to the front line, as they are spending supplies in anticipation of more.

As we can see, this is already helping Ukraine to fight better because they know they will have a supply of fresh ammunition, which has changed their perspective on the use of current stocks.

- Lipavsky said in an interview in Prague on Monday.

The Czech plan, announced last month at the Munich Security Conference by President Petr Pavel, was accepted by NATO members as a temporary measure. The Czech-led initiative involves the purchase of approximately 800,000 shells from sources outside the European Union.

Lipavsky noted that the Czech initiative alone is not enough to support Ukraine. Financing for the first deliveries to Ukraine should be processed before they are shipped.

While EU leaders have welcomed the plan, some of the bloc's largest countries have yet to make concrete pledges. Germany, on the other hand, is spending 300 million euros ($325 million) to buy 180,000 shells.

Lipavsky refused to say how long the deliveries to the front line would last. However, he noted that the Czech initiative is already bearing fruit, as the much-needed ammunition can be delivered in a few weeks.
