Details
The American division of the German company Quantum Systems received a $15.3 million contract under the program for integrating small drones at the unit level. This involves the supply of Vector AI drones to enhance the reconnaissance capabilities of brigade combat teams.
The selection was competitive – drone characteristics, equipment integration capabilities, and compatibility with US Army software were evaluated.
The company emphasizes that the combat experience of using the drone in Ukraine played a key role.
The modern battlefield requires unmanned systems that are adaptable, resilient, and proven in real-world conditions.
What is known about Vector AI
Vector AI is a modernized version of a medium-range reconnaissance drone with integrated artificial intelligence functions.
In particular, the system provides automatic classification, identification, and tracking of targets in real time, allowing the military to assess the situation and make decisions faster.
The drone has a maximum takeoff weight of 9.5 kg, can stay in the air for more than 180 minutes, and transmit data over a distance of more than 60 km. The maximum flight altitude is up to 4000 meters.
The US expects that the use of such drones will become an important part of the development of medium-range reconnaissance (MRR) capabilities in brigade units.
