"As a result of a special operation in the regional center, an FSB agent was detained who was preparing coordinates for the fire attack on key transportation routes," the SBU said.
According to the special service, "among the priority targets of the enemy were hub stations and railway routes used by the Defense Forces to transport heavy weapons and ammunition to the front." It is also stated that "the occupiers were interested in the geolocation of medical facilities where Ukrainian soldiers undergo treatment and rehabilitation.
"Acting under the guise of a courier of a popular delivery service, the agent traveled around the area on his own scooter, where he recorded the objects he needed. He was supposed to send the information to his Russian supervisor via a personal chat in the messenger," the SBU said.
The security service reportedly thwarted the enemy's plans and detained the offender red-handed as he was preparing an agent's "report" to the FSB.
According to the investigation, the aggressor's accomplice is a local resident, "an ideological supporter of racism." "He came to the attention of the occupiers through his acquaintance from Russia, who cooperated with the FSB," the SBU said.
He was notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: part 2 of article 111 (high treason committed under martial law); part 1 of article 436-2 (justification, recognition of the lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants). The attacker is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
