Britain and Poland sign defense treaty amid threat from Russia

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have signed a Polish-British defense and security treaty amid growing threats from Russia. This was reported by The Guardian, according to UNN. 

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk signed a Polish-British defense and security treaty aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries amid growing threats from Russia 

The agreement focuses on defense and security issues, including mutual support and joint exercises, military procurement, air defense, cybersecurity, and broader infrastructure security.

The UK government stated that this will include the joint use of unmanned systems to bolster NATO's eastern flank and accelerated cooperation in combating malicious disinformation.

Speaking at a press briefing this morning before departing for the UK, Tusk suggested that the treaty would go beyond previous agreements signed in 2017 and 2023, including provisions for mutual security assistance outside the framework of NATO's Article 5.

Tusk argued that the bilateral treaty would mean Poland could count on a swift bilateral response from the UK before a decision is reached by all 32 NATO members in the event of a conflict.
