Alec Baldwin's involuntary manslaughter charges were unexpectedly dropped by a New Mexico court because investigators had withheld evidence that could have incriminated the actor in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Galina Hutchins on the set of Rust.
A court in New Mexico on Friday, July 12, unexpectedly dismissed charges against actor Alec Baldwin for the involuntary manslaughter of Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins, The Guardian reports, UNNreports.

It is noted that the case did not even reach a jury decision due to the actions of state investigators. For some unknown reason, they concealed evidence that could have been used in the actor's favor.
Among other things, it is about establishing the origin of the real bullets that got to the set of the movie Rust: it was believed that they were brought by a prop maker, when in fact the bullets were sent by a prop supplier.
Judge Mary Marlowe stated that the actions of the investigators had led to irreparable harm to the criminal case and overturned it. The decision to drop the charges was greeted by Baldwin and his family members with tears of happiness.
