Air Canada will suspend flights to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York for almost five months due to rising aviation fuel prices amid the war in Iran. This was reported by AP, writes UNN.

Flights from Toronto and Montreal to JFK will be canceled from June 1 to October 25. At the same time, flights to other New York airports – LaGuardia and Newark – will continue. In total, Air Canada operates 34 flights a day to these two airports from six Canadian cities.

The company explained that the sharp increase in fuel costs made some routes economically unviable.

As jet fuel prices have doubled since the start of the conflict in Iran, and some less profitable routes and flights are no longer economically viable, we are adjusting our schedule accordingly.

According to analysts, the average price of jet fuel has risen to $4.32 per gallon from $2.50 before the war.

Air Canada has promised to contact passengers affected by the cancellations and offer alternative travel options.
