Aid from partners until summer was lower than forecast, but a catch-up of about $13 billion is expected as early as June - NBU

The volume of international financial assistance to Ukraine over the first five months of this year was lower than forecast, but a catch-up is expected, and in June alone, Ukraine may receive about 13 billion dollars from partners, the NBU reported on Thursday, UNN writes.

In January-May, external financial assistance was less than assumed; however, a catch-up in inflows is expected going forward. Thus, in June, Ukraine may receive about 13 billion USD both through aid from individual countries and under existing support programs: Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) and Ukraine Support Loan (USL),

- the National Bank noted.

As the regulator pointed out, "progress in negotiations with the IMF, in particular reaching a Staff Level Agreement, is an important step for the further receipt of funding under the four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program."

The NBU continues to expect the receipt of sufficient volumes of external financing, which will be enough both to finance the budget deficit and to increase the level of international reserves, which is important for further ensuring the stability of the foreign exchange market,

- the National Bank reported.

As stated, "over the recent weeks, risks associated with Ukraine's further progress in negotiations with international partners regarding financing have decreased." "However, as long as the war continues, risks of disruptions to the regularity and/or changes in the volume of international financing persist," the NBU remarked.
