A Russian drone violated Romanian airspace during a night attack on Izmail. The country's Ministry of Defense scrambled two F-16 fighter jets for surveillance.

On the morning of Saturday, May 2, a Russian drone violated Romanian airspace during another attack on civilian targets and infrastructure in Ukraine. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the neighboring state.

According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, a group of 20 Russian drones was detected in the area of the border town of Izmail. Two F-16 aircraft took off at around 02:00 from the 86th Air Base in Fetești.
Romanian radars recorded a brief penetration of a UAV into national airspace. At the same time, numerous explosions were reported on the Ukrainian side of the Danube.
The air raid alert was canceled at 02:50.
