As Variety notes, following the 2021 film "Spider-Man: No Way Home," the events of the new film in the Spider-Man universe begin four years after the end of the previous movie. Having erased himself from the lives and memories of those around him, Peter lives alone and "fights crime in a New York City that no longer knows his name," according to the film's official logline. "He has fully committed himself to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him grow, the pressure triggers a surprising physical evolution that threatens his very existence, even as a strange new pattern of crime spawns one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced."
In addition to Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and Michael Mando return, while new actors have joined the cast, including Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Marvin Jones III.
In the footage shown at CinemaCon, audiences saw Zendaya's MJ with a new love interest and Parker's realization that she has moved on.
So far, every new look at the highly anticipated "Spider-Man" film has thrilled fans and even set several records. The previous trailer for the film made history as the first movie trailer to cross 1 billion views; the trailer released on March 17 reached the milestone in just four days. In just 24 hours after its release, the trailer had already garnered over 718 million views.
At CinemaCon, Sony Chairman Tom Rothman noted this achievement. "It is incredibly massive, like everything we have ever created, and yet it is unlike anything we have ever created," he said. "And it features Tom Holland — and I can say this because I've seen the film — in his best acting performance yet."
