A judge in Prykarpattia will be tried for a fatal road accident; she faces up to 8 years in prison

A judge from the Pidhaytsi court hit two pedestrians in the village of Fraha at a speed of over 80 km/h. One man died, and relatives are demanding 4.8 million UAH in compensation.

In Prykarpattia, a judge will be tried for a fatal road accident in which one man died and another sustained bodily injuries. As reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, the victims' relatives filed a civil lawsuit for UAH 4.8 million, UNN reports.
Under the procedural guidance of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment has been sent to court against a judge of the Pidhaitsi District Court of Ternopil Oblast. She will be tried for a fatal road accident that occurred in the autumn of 2025 in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
As reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, the judge is accused of violating traffic rules, which caused a person's death (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.

According to the investigation, on October 31, 2025, in the village of Fraha, the judge, driving a Lexus UX250h, was moving at a speed of over 80 km/h within the settlement and did not reduce it in the center of the village. At an unregulated pedestrian crossing, she hit two local residents aged 62 and 63. One man died on the spot, the other sustained minor bodily injuries.
The driver was detained immediately after the accident, and on November 1, on the instructions of the Deputy Prosecutor General, she was notified of suspicion.
The Ivano-Frankivsk City Court chose a preventive measure - detention with an alternative bail of over UAH 1 million.
The victims' relatives filed a civil lawsuit for UAH 4.8 million.
