4.2 million Ukrainians received temporary protection status in the EU countries as of October 2024. Most of the Ukrainians were received by Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, where more than 2.5 million refugees live.
More than 4.2 million people who left Ukraine due to the full-scale invasion of Russia received temporary protection status in EU countries. Most of all in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

According to Eurostat, as of October 31, 2024, about 4.2 million Ukrainians who left the country due to the Russian invasion received temporary protection status in EU countries.
It is noted that most Ukrainians were received in Germany (1.14 million), Poland (983.9 thousand) and the Czech Republic (379.4 thousand).
Compared to September 2024, the largest increase in the number of temporary protection recipients was recorded in Germany (+11,370 people, +1%), Poland (+4,045, +0.4%) and Spain (+3 600, +1,6%).
At the same time, Lithuania experienced a significant reduction in the number of such persons (-33,455, -41.3%) due to the removal of persons with inactive status from registration.
A decrease in the number of recipients was also recorded in Italy (-1,105, -0.7%) and France (-280, -0.5%). The majority of people who received temporary protection in the EU are Ukrainians (98.3%).
Among them, almost half (45%) are women, children — 32%, and men — about 23%.
