274 archaeological objects and coins seized at the Estonian border will be presented at the National Museum of History of Ukraine in Kyiv on April 30, including Scythian and medieval jewelry, coins of Byzantine emperors, and ceremonial horse harness.

On April 30, the National Museum of History of Ukraine will host a solemn presentation of 274 archeological items and coins detained at the border of the Republic of Estonia and transferred by the Republic of Estonia to Ukraine. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Details

It is noted that the participants of the presentation will be able to see jewelry from the Scythian, pre-Roman and Roman periods, as well as medieval finds - a ceremonial horse harness - the turn of the VIII-IX centuries - the beginning of the IX century, a ring with a bird holding a laurel branch in its paws, the X-XII centuries, coins of Byzantine emperors: Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus (920-944), Nikephoros 11 Phocas (963-969); John I Cimischius (969-976), Basil II Bulgarobius (976-1025). Similar coins in the tenth and eleventh centuries were widespread almost throughout the territory of modern Ukraine.

The legal framework for the return of illegally exported cultural property to the state of origin is defined by the 1970 Convention. It provides for the right of the State of origin to apply to other States Parties to the Convention for the seizure and return of illegally exported cultural property to the State of origin,
