Zelenskyy stated that the majority of NATO countries support Ukraine's accession to the Alliance. However, a final decision currently lacks unanimity among the allies.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the majority of NATO member states support Ukraine's future accession to the Alliance, although the necessary unanimity among all allies does not yet exist. The head of state said this after a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council in Kyiv alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, UNN reports.

According to the President, during the meeting, many representatives of the Alliance member states confirmed their support for Ukraine.
"Today, during the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting, many countries spoke about seeing Ukraine in NATO. And this is the absolute truth. No one said they didn't want to see it, but some remain silent on this matter,"
He emphasized that unanimous support from all member states is required for NATO accession. At the same time, according to the President, such unanimity already exists regarding Ukraine's membership in the European Union.
"As for NATO – it is not there yet. But I think most countries truly understand that Ukraine in NATO is something NATO needs no less than Ukraine needs it,"
The President also added that Ukraine's membership in the Alliance is an important security factor for the entire region.
"I believe that even the 'Russians' need Ukraine to be in NATO. Because in the future it could be painful if Ukraine is not in NATO,"
