Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Vadym Boichenko as the head of the Mariupol City Military Administration. The new status of the body removes restrictions caused by the incapacity of the deputy corps and allows for prompt decision-making in the interests of the community. Boichenko himself announced this on his Telegram channel, UNN reports.

According to the new head of the MMA, the first step will be to approve a program to support veterans and their families. Special emphasis is placed on providing Mariupol residents with housing.

Thanks to the President, together with the Government, we have started implementing the "My Home. Ukraine" initiative, within which we will build a modern residential complex in Bila Tserkva with 1000 apartments.

The team also plans to scale up the experience of the "YaMariupol" network, which has already provided over 264,000 consultations and provided social housing to 1,400 families. Vadym Boichenko emphasized that he now has all the tools for systemic assistance to IDPs and attracting international partners to new social projects.

Vadym Boichenko is a Ukrainian municipal figure who served as the mayor of Mariupol since 2015. His career is closely linked to the industrial sector: before being elected mayor, he held leadership positions at the Illich Iron and Steel Works and the Metinvest group.

Boichenko won the mayoral elections twice (in 2015 and 2020). During his tenure, Mariupol became one of the leaders in Ukraine in terms of infrastructure development, governance transparency, and attracting international investments.
