A 19-year-old youth is suspected of sending alcohol containing methadone to a serviceman at the behest of Russian special services. The marine died in the hospital after consuming the poisoned drink.
A 19-year-old man was detained for the fatal poisoning of a serviceman with methadone in alcohol while posing as an "acquaintance" on orders from the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor General's Office reported on Thursday, UNN writes.
A 19-year-old resident of the Poltava region has been notified of suspicion; according to the investigation, he was recruited by Russian special services to murder a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
He is charged with intentional murder committed for profit and in the interests of the aggressor state (clauses 6, 12 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect received an assignment from a representative of the Russian special services via Telegram. "For a reward of 5,000 UAH, he was to organize the poisoning of a 23-year-old marine," the report says.
To achieve this, the Russian special services, using a fake female account, established communication with the serviceman and agreed to send him a "gift." Following the handler's instructions, the suspect purchased a bottle of hard liquor, injected a poisonous mixture based on methadone into it, and sent it by mail to Zhytomyr
As reported, "the serviceman received the package and consumed the alcohol. A few days later, he died in intensive care as a result of poisoning."
The suspect was detained at his place of residence. The issue of selecting a preventive measure in the form of detention is currently being decided. Investigative actions are also ongoing to identify other persons involved in the organization and execution of the crime.
