Brovary Clinical Hospital has launched a solar power plant to ensure energy independence. The project was implemented in 4 months with the support of a charitable foundation and international donors.

The Brovary Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital serves up to 200,000 patients annually. That is why it was chosen for the construction of the solar power plant. The mayor of Brovary, Ihor Sapozhko, is convinced that in the face of full-scale Russian aggression, all critical infrastructure facilities must be energy independent. UNN journalists found out how long it took to install the solar panels and who was involved during the opening of the power plant.

According to Brovary Mayor Ihor Sapozhko, all the necessary work was completed in four months. The project was implemented with the support of the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation, international donors, and the Kyiv RMA.

The mayor emphasized that the new solar power plant will primarily meet the needs of the intensive care unit.

Only four months have passed since the signing of the memorandum until today. I am grateful to the RePower Ukraine Foundation, which organized the project documentation and execution of the works in such a short period of time. This station, although it is small, provides a rather important unit in the hospital: intensive care

- Ihor Sapozhko said.

He added that in the face of full-scale Russian aggression, it is imperative to ensure the energy independence of critical infrastructure facilities.

"We had a case on February 24, 2022, when our hospital received the first wounded from military units. It was about forty people... And today's situation in our country shows that we need to be energy independent," the mayor said.

Iryna Kosenko, Communications Manager of the RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation, explained the choice of the Brovary Clinical Hospital for the solar power plant by the fact that it serves a large number of patients every year.

The Ministry of Health, Kyiv and regional administrations recommended this particular facility, as it has been awarded the title of a cluster facility. And we know that about 187 thousand patients are served here during the year. Not only from Brovary and Brovary district, but also from the Left Bank of Kyiv

- said Iryna Kosenko.
