“We do not see any dramatic impact on the energy sector": Halushchenko on switching to winter time
Kyiv • UNN
The Energy Minister says that the abolition of daylight saving time will not have a dramatic impact on Ukraine's energy sector. The Verkhovna Rada passes a bill to cancel daylight saving time starting in 2025.
The Ministry of Energy does not see any dramatic impact on the Ukrainian energy sector due to the transition to full winter time. This was announced by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko during an hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, commenting on the adoption of a bill to abolish the transition to "winter" and "summer" time, reports UNN .
Regarding the issue of time change. Let's just say that the energy sector has calculated the impact on consumption, how dramatic it will be for us to switch or not to switch. We don't see any dramatic impact on the energy sector in terms of time
Addendum
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed draft law No. 4201 on abolishing daylight saving time in Ukraine. Thus, this year, Ukrainians will switch to winter time on the last Sunday (October 27) and there will be no more daylight saving time from 2025 onwards.
Some Ukrainians believe that the introduction of winter time in Ukraine will create difficulties in synchronizing time with European countries.
MP Volodymyr Viatrovych said that the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on the abolition of daylight saving time is an openly harmful and anti-European step.
First, this decision means that the sun will rise at almost three o'clock in the summer, and in October it will be dark even during the working day. Secondly, this will significantly increase energy consumption, which is already a disaster in our country and was invented to save energy
