Due to the spring floods and the release of water from the Kyiv Reservoir, a sharp rise in the level of the Dnipro River in Kyiv is possible from March 21 to 26, with flooding of floodplains and low-lying areas.

This week, the water level in the Dnipro River may rise in Kyiv and the region . This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center. 

Details

The reason for the possible flooding is the spring flood and the discharge of water from the Kyiv reservoir.

On March 21-26, as a result of water discharges from the Kyiv Reservoir due to the spring flood, sharp fluctuations in water levels are possible on the Dnipro River in Kyiv and Boryspil district of Kyiv region, with floodplain and low-lying riverine areas flooding

- the department said. 

It is noted that a yellow level of danger has been declared in connection with the situation.

The Dnipro river level in Kyiv reached its absolute maximum since the beginning of the year - 601 cm - on March 16 due to increased water discharges from the Kyiv reservoir caused by the spring floods.
