Vance stated that the U.S. will be guided by its own interests in relations with Iran. Washington's primary goal is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated that while the United States and Israel share common interests, Washington's approach to Tehran will be guided by what U.S. President Donald Trump believes is best for the U.S., UNN reports, citing Fox News.

Vance's remarks on Monday came amid reports of tension with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over missile strikes on Iran and the Israeli leader's preference for a tougher approach.
"The Israelis and the United States have many common interests," Vance said.
"But we also have some situations where our interests diverge, and I think the President has been very clear here that while Israel obviously has certain goals, the primary goal of the United States in Iran is to ensure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons," he added.
"Over the last year and a half, we have created the necessary space where the President believes — and I think he is right — that we can achieve a long-term settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue," Vance said.
"Israel may like it, or they may not like it, but fundamentally, we believe this is in the best interest of the United States of America," he said, adding that Washington will continue to pursue this goal because "that is exactly what the President of the United States was elected to do."
