The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has built and launched the third SLG barge, which will transport cargo of up to 2,200 tons. This was reported by the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, according to UNN .
Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has built and launched its third SLG barge. Like the two previous ones, it will transport cargo of up to 2,200 tons. Vessels of this series are built at the company's own expense, without attracting outside funds. Technologically, this is done by converting two lighters (small self-propelled vessels) through an insert cut from the third lighter.
Details
It is noted that the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company is expanding its cargo capacity at the expense of the old fleet, the use of which has become economically inexpedient, and the cost of producing SLG barges is an order of magnitude lower than building a new vessel.
The production of SLG barges also creates an additional 100 jobs for Ukrainian shipbuilders, as well as opportunities for the development of the company's own capacities.
Recall
The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has built a second large-capacity SLG barge using old lighters. The first SLG barge was built in late 2023.
