Japan pledges $4.5 billion to help Ukraine.

Japan will allocate $4.5 billion to Ukraine. The funds will be used, in particular, to restore the state from Russian aggression. This was announced by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during a virtual meeting of the G7 yesterday, UNN reports with reference to the website of the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

The Japanese Prime Minister  emphasized that even as the situation in the Middle East becomes more and more tense, the G7 remains unchanged in its position to respond to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 

 Kishida, said that  Japan has decided to provide $1 billion for humanitarian aid and reconstruction of Ukraine. In total, Japan will provide $4.5 billion to Ukraine, including this additional support and a credit enhancement for World Bank loans. 

He noted that support for Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction is also important in the medium to long term, and that Japan, with the involvement of the private sector, will launch the Japan-Ukraine  Economic Reconstruction Project next February.

The G7 countries also agreed to limit imports of non-commercial Russian diamonds by January 2024, including the introduction of a credible rough diamond certification system by September 2024.
