Ukraine has introduced sanctions against ten Russian telecommunications operators

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to apply sanctions against ten Russian mobile operators, internet service providers, and telecommunications companies. This was reported on the website of the Office of the President, according to UNN.

Details

The new sanctions package includes companies that provide communications for Russian occupation administrations in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, provide internet access to structures cooperating with the aggressor state, and broadcast Russian TV channels.

In particular, sanctions were imposed on the companies "Luhansk Communications" and "Mobile Communication Systems," which, according to the Ukrainian side, are used by Russia to spread propaganda in the occupied territories.

The list also includes the federal satellite and telecommunications operator "Amtel-Svyaz" and the enterprise "Kosmicheskaya Svyaz" (Russian Satellite Communications Company), which provide secure communication channels for Russian state structures and the military.

The Office of the President noted that Ukraine will pass information about the sanctioned companies to international partners and will initiate the synchronization of restrictive measures in other jurisdictions.

Any activity in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is illegal. Companies that knowingly operate in the TOT and serve the occupation authorities become toxic to the international business and financial system. That is why Ukraine applies sanctions intended to make their activities impossible not only in the temporarily occupied territories but anywhere outside of Russia
