Two Ukrainian photographs win first place at the international contest "Wiki Loves the Earth"

Two photographs by Ukrainian photographers made it to the top 20 on Wiki Loves Earth, and a photo of a beetle by Serhiy Miroshnyk took first place in the Macro category.

International international photo contest of natural monuments "Wiki Loves Earth" was held from May to August. was held for the tenth time
This year it was held for the tenth time. It was joined by 50 participating countries, which is a record number for all years of the competition. In total, more than 61,700 photos were sent to the international jury for evaluation. photos from more than 3,300 participants were submitted to the international jury.
This is not the first time Ukraine has participated in this competition not for the first time. Moreover, Ukrainian photographers are traditionally among the among the top leaders in terms of the number of photos uploaded. In 2023, 121 photographers from Ukraine made a name for themselves in this competition. In total, Ukrainian photographers submitted more than 4,500 images.
Two photos by Ukrainian authors in both competition categories (macro and landscapes - ed.) entered the top 20 best photos of the competition in 2023. А one of them took first place.
In particular, the winner in the macro category was the photo by Serhii Miroshnyk was recognized as the winner in the macro category. This photo was taken in the Bila Dibrova nature reserve, Desnianskyi district of Kyiv.
The hero of the photo is a beetle - an insect of the species of the forest hoppers (Cicindela soluta).

Fantastic photo! It looks like a movie about microcosm. I love the sharpness on the insect's body with the blurred plants around it, and the balance between the blue sky and the red mosses! The author's technical skills and creativity deserve an award.

In the category "landscapes" the 19th prize place in this year's competition was taken by a photo by Mikhail Petskovich. The breathtaking landscape depicts the blooming of daffodils among the mountainous landscapes. He took his photo on the mountain Shcherban of the Marmarosh ridge, within the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve in Rakhiv district.
It should be noted that this photo also took fourth place among the top 10 best photos of the Ukrainian competition and became the best in the Transcarpathian region.
