Tuberculosis remains a serious challenge in Ukraine, but the situation is under control. This was stated by Yana Terleeva from the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health.

In Ukraine, tuberculosis remains a rather serious challenge for the public health system, but the situation is under control. This was stated by Yana Terleeva, head of the department of management and control of tuberculosis at the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health, on the air of the telethon, reports UNN.
According to the Center for Public Health, 18,140 people fell ill with tuberculosis last year - 8% less than in the same period (the year before last - ed.). But at the same time, we can say that the situation today is under control and there are no signs of a significant epidemic process in the country. In fact, despite the fact that tuberculosis remains a rather serious challenge for the public health system, today we can say that the situation is under control
She noted that there is an underdetection of tuberculosis, especially in the frontline areas.
The impact of the full-scale war is obvious, and in fact, today we see, on the one hand, an underdetection of tuberculosis, especially in the frontline territories that face the destruction of medical infrastructure, limited access to medical care
Terleeva noted that on the other hand, millions of people have left for other countries.
Today, we are in contact with more than 41 countries that report people who have contracted tuberculosis so that they can continue to be treated, regardless of which country these people are in. Today, when the country has powerful immigration processes that are very dependent on the political situation, on the military, on how the energy system is shelled, it is very difficult to say how many people have left, how many have returned to the country
