I had a very good meeting today with the Speaker of the House and some of our more conservative members, all wonderful people. I made it clear to them that I am in favor of significant spending cuts! We are going to make cuts, hopefully exceeding $1 trillion, and they will all go to the "single, big, beautiful bill." I, along with members of the House and Senators, will be very insistent that these massive spending cuts be made, but we must pass the bill now. Make America Great Again!
As The Hill notes, it is about a budget resolution. The comments appear to have been an "olive branch" to hard-line conservatives who have expressed doubts about the level of spending cuts in the budget initiative passed by Republicans in the Senate last week.
The Senate version is reportedly different from the House version, creating a conflict between Republicans in the two chambers over how to move forward.
