Exports of Ukrainian trucks to the EU are up 30% thanks to the 'transport visa-free regime,' reports Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov. This regime is crucial for supporting grain exports and economic growth amid problems with export routes.

Thanks to the so-called "transport visa-free regime," Ukraine has managed to increase truck exports to the European Union by at least 30%. This was stated by the Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov, reports UNN

According to Kubrakov, the agreement on freight liberalization, the so-called "transport visa-free regime," is one of the key results of the EU's support for our country in the field of transport and export logistics, and thus for our economy.

Thanks to the Agreement, exports of goods by trucks to the EU increased by 30% this year compared to 2021, when the permit system was in place. At the same time, the Agreement is a key element of the Solidarity Roads to support grain exports in the absence of stable alternative routes and the sea blockade

- summarized the Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.

At the same time, he emphasized that the violation of the Agreement, in particular the blockade of checkpoints by Polish protesters, had a negative impact on the Ukrainian economy and exports.

Complete unblocking of the border and prevention of similar situations in the future should become a principle of economic security of our region

- Kubrakov is sure.

For reference

The Agreement on Liberalization of Freight Transport between Ukraine and the EU was signed on June 29, 2022 for a period of one year. In 2023, it was extended for another year - until June 30, 2024.

The key content of the Agreement is the ability of Ukrainian carriers to carry out transportation to the EU without permits, as was required before the signing. For their part, EU carriers have the same opportunity to import goods to Ukraine.
