The publication notes that the exclusions narrow the scope of tariffs, excluding goods from a 125% tariff for China and a base 10% global tariff for almost all other countries.
This has become a "serious setback" for global technology manufacturers, including Apple Inc. and Nvidia Corp., even if it proves to be temporary.
The authors point out that the exceptions apply to smartphones, laptops, hard drives, computer processors and memory chips, as well as flat panel displays. This popular consumer electronics is not usually manufactured in the USA.
"The pause will be welcome news for consumers, some of whom have rushed to buy new iPhones and other devices over fears that tariffs will lead to soaring prices," the publication writes.
