The SBU detained an agent of Russian special services in the Odesa region, who, on the enemy's orders, collected data on the deployment locations of the Defense Forces in Odesa and the Odesa region. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Security Service of Ukraine.

Details

According to the investigation, the detainee turned out to be a local resident who came to the attention of Russian special services due to pro-Russian publications in Telegram channels. He tracked the bases of the Defense Forces, which the occupiers planned to target with missile and drone strikes.

The Russians were most interested in the firing positions of air defense and the locations of logistics warehouses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south of Ukraine. To monitor and collect data on military objects, the suspect drove around the area by car. After reconnaissance missions, he reported to the curator from the Russian Federation via messenger, and then deleted the correspondence

- the SBU post states.

During searches of the detainee, 3 smartphones with evidence of his work for Russian special services were seized.

The detainee was notified of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
    • Parts 1, 2 of Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
      • Parts 2, 3 of Art. 109 (public calls for violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or for seizure of state power, as well as dissemination of materials containing calls for such actions);
        • Parts 2, 3 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

          Currently, the suspect is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

          Let us remind you

          The SBU counterintelligence foiled another attempt by the Russians to carry out a terrorist attack in Kyiv. Two female agents of the Russian special services were detained, who were preparing an assassination attempt on a Ukrainian military serviceman.
