The Kremlin is increasingly trying to sow discord between the US and Europe - ISW

The Kremlin continues to try to sow discord between the United States and Europe. This is stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), reports UNN.

Details

ISW reminds that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently accused "almost the entire European West" of trying to prolong the war in Ukraine and promoting "the rehabilitation of Nazism", and also continued to falsely portray the Ukrainian authorities as neo-Nazis.

Lavrov claimed that Europeans "unleashed" "all the tragedies of mankind until 1939, including World War II", and that the elites now in power in most countries of the European Union and NATO retain "instincts" to provoke these tragedies

- Lavrov said.

In turn, the director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Kirill Logvinov, reiterated on the eve that Russia continues to consider the European peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine unacceptable and criticized the current efforts of Great Britain and France to create such a contingent.

Similarly, Logvinov accused European countries, including European elites, of unleashing the war in Ukraine and trying to prolong it

- the report says.

At the same time, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, similarly criticized European countries for allegedly "Russophobia" regarding the war and threatened Europe with Russian missiles. At the same time, Medvedev regularly makes extreme statements aimed at persuading Western countries to act in accordance with Russia's interests.

These statements are part of the Kremlin's broader efforts to falsely portray European countries as seeking to prolong the war, as opposed to current US efforts to secure a temporary ceasefire and, ultimately, full peace in Ukraine

- analysts state.

ISW believes that this rhetoric of the Russian Federation is aimed at undermining the unity of the West in supporting Ukraine.

Let us remind you

The Institute for the Study of War claims that Russian officials continue to try to disrupt the proposed US-Ukrainian mineral agreement by promoting potential US-Russian rare earth element mining projects.
