The incidence of acute respiratory viral infections in Ukraine has decreased by 9% in a week, but influenza viruses are still circulating - Ministry of Health

Over the week, 98,706 people fell ill with influenza and ARVI in Ukraine, of which 60,534 are children. Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 4,530,421 people have had ARVI, which is 3.9% less than last year.

During the week of monitoring, from May 5 to May 11, 98,706 people in Ukraine fell ill with ARVI, influenza and COVID-19, of which 60,534 were children. 2,697 patients with complications were admitted to hospitals, including 1,636 children. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Health.

Compared to the previous week, the incidence decreased by 9%. In general, the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections, influenza and COVID-19 in the country is 43.3% lower than the epidemic threshold calculated for the current season. 

In all regions of Ukraine, the incidence rates have not been exceeded. However, influenza viruses are still circulating in 11 regions of the country. During April and May, there is a constant decrease in the number of new cases.

Since the beginning of the 2024/2025 epidemic season, from September 30, 2024 to May 11, 2025, 4,530,421 people have had acute respiratory infections. This is 3.9% less than the same period of the 2023-2024 season.

21,236 cases of COVID-19 disease were confirmed out of the total number of ARVI cases. Since the beginning of the epidemic season, doctors have reported 190 deaths due to complications of ARVI, influenza and COVID-19.
