Starting November 11, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv will ban the use of Telegram for official purposes. UNN reports with reference to the Institute of Mass Information.
"Starting November 11, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv will ban the use of Telegram for official purposes. The corresponding order was signed by the rector of the university. This was confirmed by a representative of the Institute of Mass Information, Valentyna Troyan, at the university's communications center," the statement said.
It is noted that the fact that the university plans to abandon the use of the platform is also evidenced by a post on the telegram channel of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where administrators ask users what other platform they will choose for further communication.
IMI also received confirmation that WI-FI in dormitories no longer supports this messenger.
As noted by the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, this is another decision to restrict the use of Telegram, which applies not to civil servants, but to ordinary Ukrainians.
Recently, the use of the messenger was banned at the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University in Chernivtsi.
The Center for Strategic Communications reminds that on September 20, following a meeting of the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity, it was recommended to restrict the use of Telegram in government agencies, military formations and critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
In October, the Verkhovna Rada and the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting refused to use Telegram on working equipment.
Addendum
The National Security and Defense Council has announced a ban on Telegram on the official devices of civil servants, military and critical infrastructure workers. The decision was made due to national security threats associated with the use of the messenger during the war.
The head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation statedthat the ban on Telegram applies only to official devices of civil servants and the military. The use of the messenger on personal smartphones is not restricted.
