The Swedish Air Force scrambled JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets twice in one day to intercept and identify Russian military aircraft near Swedish airspace over the Baltic Sea. This was reported by the Swedish Armed Forces, according to UNN.

According to the Swedish military, the incidents occurred on June 13 in different areas of the Baltic Sea. Following the detection of Russian aviation activity, two pairs of JAS 39 Gripen fighters were scrambled as part of a quick reaction alert mission.

The Swedish air incident response service reacted promptly after detecting the Russian flights. Two pairs of JAS 39 Gripens took to the skies to protect the country's territory, intercept, and identify the Russian combat aircraft,

The Swedish Armed Forces noted that Swedish airspace was not violated during the incidents. At the same time, the fighter jets escorted and identified the Russian aircraft near the country's borders.
