A soldier who was wanted for a traffic accident with serious consequences in the Kyiv region has been extradited from Poland. He was hiding from justice, first in Moldova, and then in Poland.

Polish law enforcement officers have extradited to Ukraine a serviceman who was wanted internationally for a traffic accident with serious consequences. This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation, reports UNN.

Law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Poland have decided to extradite to Ukraine a serviceman who was wanted internationally for committing a traffic accident in the Kyiv region. On March 24, 2025, he was handed over to SBI employees on the Ukrainian-Polish border

Details

The accident occurred in 2023 near the village of Stare, Boryspil district, Kyiv region. The serviceman, who was driving the car, is suspected of failing to give way to a bus, which led to an accident. As a result of the accident, two bus passengers sustained serious bodily injuries, and the bus driver sustained injuries of moderate severity.

In order to avoid punishment, the suspect illegally left first for Moldova, and from there - to Poland, where he was hiding from Ukrainian justice. He was put on the international wanted list, and then Polish law enforcement officers detained him.

The detainee was informed of suspicion of violating traffic safety rules, which caused moderate bodily harm. According to Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces imprisonment from three to eight years.

After the extradition, he was immediately detained, and the court chose a preventive measure for him - detention.
