The incident took place on Sunday around 6:00 p.m. local time at the end of the Bite of Seattle festival, which annually gathers hundreds of food vendors, goods sellers, and performers. According to Seattle Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis, investigators believe two suspects were shooting at each other.
"We are still trying to figure this out," Davis said.
According to him, one suspect has already been detained, while the other is still being sought. Police currently have no description of him. Law enforcement also stated that there is no threat to the public.
However, as a result of the incident, two people died at the scene, and another person died at the hospital. Additionally, four injured individuals are in the hospital in stable condition. Among the wounded is a two-year-old boy; the other victims are adults. According to a hospital representative, they sustained injuries to their arms, abdomen, or legs.
After the shooting, numerous police officers and rescuers arrived at the scene and began evacuating the area around the Seattle Center campus. The exact location of the shooting within the festival grounds has not yet been specified by authorities.
