Shmyhal: Australia is the largest donor of military aid to Ukraine outside NATO

Australia has provided $880 million in military aid to Ukraine, making it the largest donor outside of NATO. The country also provided funds for the EBRD credit line and the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine.

A meeting was held in Kyiv with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong to discuss current defense issues for Ukraine.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, UNN reports.

Australia is the largest donor of military assistance to Ukraine outside of NATO. The total amount of assistance provided is over USD 1 billion, of which USD 880 million is military support. They discussed current defense needs

 He also noted that the transfer of 50 million euros from Australia  to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will open a 250 million euro credit line for Ukraine.

He also called on Australian businesses to join the reconstruction effort. The Prime Minister added that Wong announced Australia's contribution to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine in the amount of $6.39 million.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia and thanked the Australian government for joining the initiative to counter Russia's “shadow fleet”

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed the transfer of 120 Bushmaster armored vehicles to Ukraine. Australia also provided 49 Abrams tanks and military aid worth $250 million.
