The German chancellor has reiterated his intention to continue dialog with the russian president. The Estonian prime minister believes that only military support for Ukraine will force russia to start negotiations.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated that despite all the criticism, he wants to continue the phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports UNN citing Tagesschau.
“I spoke to the Russian president and I will speak to him again,” he said after meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal in Berlin.
However, he will always make it clear that Putin's task is to “end the war, stop aggression and withdraw troops.
Michal doubts that Putin can be persuaded to surrender through phone calls. In his opinion, Russia should be forced to sit down at the negotiating table by providing further and greater support to Ukraine.
In November, Scholz spoke to Putin on the phone for the first time in more than two years and was criticized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for doing so.
