The security service of Ukraine is conducting searches in the Pochaev assumption Lavra as part of a criminal investigation into the involvement of the Lavra's leadership in inciting national hatred and hatred

the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed on Thursday that it is conducting investigative actions on the territory of the Pochaev assumption Lavra of the UOC-MP, and showed photos from the searches, writes UNN.

the searches are reportedly being conducted as part of criminal proceedings regarding "the involvement of the Lavra leadership in inciting national hatred and hatred."

comprehensive measures are carried out by SBU officers in the Ternopil region together with the National Police, the Special Service noted.

according to the investigation, representatives of the Pochaev Lavra published a publication on the monastery's website insulting the National Honor and dignity of Jews, as well as inciting religious hatred against representatives of all churches except the UOC. in addition, in this note, the clergy of the UOC-MP questioned the existence of Ukraine as a sovereign state separate from Russia, the SBU pointed out.

an expert examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the presence of statements inciting ethnic hatred and hatred in the text of the online publication.

"within the framework of criminal proceedings under Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of equal rights of citizens depending on their race, national, religious affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds), an investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the crime.  all actions take place within the framework of the current legislation," the SBU stressed.

the Special Service noted that in its activities the SBU adheres to the principle of impartiality to the activities of any religious denomination and respects the right of every citizen to freedom of worldview and religion, as defined by the Constitution of Ukraine.
