Over the year, 1,213 apps were removed from the Russian App Store at the request of the authorities. Most of them are VPN services used to bypass digital censorship in the country.

Russia has become the world leader in the number of apps removed from the App Store, steadily lowering a digital "iron curtain." This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC, according to UNN.
Details
In the last year alone, at the request of "Roskomnadzor," 1,213 applications were removed from the Russian segment of the store.
The dynamics of the blockings clearly demonstrate how the Russian repressive machine has turned censorship into an assembly line. For example, in 2022, only seven apps were removed, and in 2023 — 12, and now this process has reached unprecedented proportions
A significant portion of the removed applications are VPN services and tools for bypassing blocks. The Kremlin is systematically destroying the last opportunity for Russians to safely visit free resources, maintain privacy, and use foreign platforms.
The Russian authorities have set a course for total control over the digital environment, stripping the Russian internet of the last remnants of freedom. The Kremlin is consistently building an isolated system where, instead of global technologies, users will be left only with state propaganda and strict censorship
