According to the head of state, the Kremlin views any cessation of the war only as an opportunity to regroup and prepare for new aggression.
"Undoubtedly, Putin fears the return of his army home. That is why he is so afraid of ending the war without victory. And there will be no victory. He is physically afraid of his own army. And therefore, if there is no ceasefire with concrete security guarantees, he will return to war. And this time, other countries may be under attack,"
The President also stressed that Ukraine has already become one of the key elements of security in the Euro-Atlantic space.
"Ukraine today is de facto the second army of NATO, which is not inferior to the second army in the world. That is why we are needed in NATO de jure. This is already a fact recognized by all leaders,"
At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that Putin's true goal remains unchanged.
"Putin will be in the Kremlin until his death, and he has one goal – the restoration of the Soviet Union. Without Ukraine, this is impossible, which is why it is so difficult for us,"
According to him, the Kremlin's statements about readiness for peace do not correspond to reality.
"Putin does not want to stop, and all his talk about wanting peace is a lie. All partners, all Europeans feel this. But everyone is confident that together we will stop him. The key words here are 'together' and 'stop,'"
The President added that for this, Ukraine needs continued support from allies.
"We need air defense and money for the army. The partners agree with this, and we will all work on it,"
Separately, the head of state noted the unity of European partners on the issue of further pressure on Russia and emphasized that Ukraine has also made significant efforts to consolidate support among allies.
"The European Union will strengthen sanctions against Russia – this is a unanimous decision. There is unity in the EU, and they are doing a great job. We have also done a lot to ensure this unity. Our partners recognize this as well,"
