The Prosecutor General discussed countering cybercrime and collecting evidence of Russian aggression with the FBI. Digital forensics and the pursuit of criminals became the priorities.

The Prosecutor General's Office is deepening its cooperation with the FBI, including the cyber division of the American agency, focusing on countering international cybercrimes, gathering evidence regarding Russia's aggression against Ukraine, as well as extradition and search efforts, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported on social media on Friday, UNN writes.

Kravchenko reported that today at the Prosecutor General's Office, he met with representatives of the FBI's cyber division – Deputy Assistant Director of Cyber Operations Jason Bilnoski and Section Chief of Cyber Operations regarding Russia and Iran Kyriakos Vassilakos, as well as Legal Attaché James Volkert and his deputy Justin Rowland from the US Embassy in Ukraine.
"The main topic of this conversation is countering international cybercrimes. Modern schemes have long known no borders. Therefore, the counteraction to them must be appropriate. We discussed several key areas," the Prosecutor General noted.
First and foremost, according to him, the American colleagues conveyed gratitude on behalf of the leadership of the FBI and the US Department of Justice for the cooperation and partnership. "This confirms that the relations between our institutions are not formal, but effective," Kravchenko indicated.
"It was also noted that Ukraine fulfills American requests for international legal assistance as quickly as possible. We will continue to maintain this level. Behind these requests are real cases: ransomware, infrastructure attacks, theft of citizens' personal information. And real results: relevant proceedings registered, evidence collected, and as a result – suspects and convicts," the Prosecutor General reported.
Separately, Kravchenko "emphasized the importance for us of building an evidentiary base regarding Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine." "It is already sufficient. But further strengthening and expanding the collected evidence remains our priority. In this context, the support of American partners, particularly in the field of technical analysis of digital data, can significantly enhance our capabilities. The US has unique expertise and technical capabilities regarding digital forensics," he noted.
"The direction of extradition and the search for persons evading justice also remains effective. American colleagues emphasized that our joint work consists of bringing all criminals to justice, regardless of where they are located. We fully share this approach. We already have concrete results and continue to build on them. This is the justice that both Ukrainian and American citizens need," Kravchenko indicated.
As the Prosecutor General emphasized, "we count on cooperation and maintain constant contact with our American partners." "Going forward, we will only increase the effectiveness of our interaction: joint operations, information exchange, and coordination of actions," he remarked.
The ceremonial conclusion of this meeting, according to the Prosecutor General, was also marked by the presentation of FBI departmental awards to Ukrainian prosecutors. "For me, this is especially pleasing. This is recognition of the specific work that takes place daily between our teams," he indicated.
"Ukrainian-American cooperation in the field of justice is not declarative. It is practical, with daily real results. We continue to work," Kravchenko concluded.
