Pope Leo XIV marked the feast of Pentecost with a prayer for the salvation of humanity from the "evil of war." More than 5,000 people gathered in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican for the service, which concludes the Easter cycle.
"With a fervent heart, let us pray that the Holy Spirit of the Risen One saves us from the evil of war, which is overcome not by superpowers, but by the omnipotence of love," the pontiff stated during the liturgy. In his sermon, he reflected on the life-giving action of the Holy Spirit.
