Poland has signed an agreement to invest over 650 million euros in the IRIS2 satellite system. The country will become one of the six main players in this European constellation.
Poland invests more than 650 million euros in the European satellite system IRIS2. The relevant agreement was signed by Minister of Internal Affairs Marcin Kierwiński and European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius, reports UNN citing Polska Agencja Prasowa.

The minister emphasized that Poland "will become one of the six main players in the context of the IRIS2 constellation in Europe." At the same time, according to the European Commissioner, by investing in the space industry, Poland invests in security, economy and the future, and the signing of the agreement will make the country a pillar of Europe's secure communications strategy.
Kierwiński estimated Poland's contribution at approximately 10 percent of the total project cost, or 2.8 billion zlotys (656 million euros), which will be financed under the National Recovery Plan (KPO) funded by the EU.

IRIS2 (Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnection and Security by Satellites) is a planned multi-orbital satellite constellation consisting of 290 satellites. The system will support both civilian and defense applications, providing secure communication services for the EU and its member states, as well as broadband access for government agencies, enterprises and European citizens.
