The Pinocchio kindergarten, which was destroyed by Russian troops, was opened in Borodyanka, Kyiv region. The facility was rebuilt with the joint efforts of international partners and philanthropists and has enrolled 80 children.

In Borodyanka, Kyiv region, a kindergarten destroyed by Russian troops has been restored. "Pinocchio" opened its doors to 80 young children. The head of the Kyiv regional military administration Ruslan Kravchenko said this on his Facebook page, UNN reports .

In April 2022, they were collecting the surviving things here. They thought they would never return to the kindergarten destroyed by the occupiers. This is what the staff of the Pinocchio kindergarten in Borodyanka told me. Their pessimism was not justified. The kindergarten was rebuilt. Today it has already accepted its little pupils

- Kravchenko wrote.

According to the head of the RMA, 132 children attended Pinocchio before the war. During the Russian attacks, local residents were hiding in the basement of the institution. But the occupiers destroyed the kindergarten almost completely. On March 1 , 2022, an airplane bomb damaged the facade of the building, smashed windows and doors, destroyed interior partitions, and destroyed property, kindergarten furniture, and children's toys.

Temporarily, the children and teachers from Pinocchio were sheltered in the neighboring kindergarten "Fairy Tale" in Borodyanka.

The restoration of the kindergarten began in May 2023. Different countries and organizations have joined forces to do this.

Major repairs were carried out by PROJECT HOPE, shelters were arranged by Global Emergency Relief, Recovery & Reconstruction (GER 3), furniture and landscaping were provided by the Republic of Lithuania. Water supply and sewerage were restored by NEFCO Corporation, and the Swiss humanitarian organization Klotenhelpsukraine together with the residents of the Swiss city of Kloten raised UAH 1 million to refurbish the shelter.

They also took care of energy independence. Reportedly, the charity organization "The Brave Ones" and the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) have installed a 12 kW solar power plant on the roof of Pinocchio.

This is an example of how we can quickly and efficiently rebuild what was destroyed by the occupiers and bring people back to life through joint efforts of the whole world. I am grateful to our international partners and philanthropists who have done everything to make children's laughter sound here again

- The CRMA chief added.
