Peace negotiations should be direct between Zelenskyy and Putin - Sikorski

Any future negotiations on ending Russia's war against Ukraine should be conducted directly between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, without mediation by third parties. This was stated in an interview with CBS News by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, reports UNN.

Details

The publication recalls that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this week that Moscow is "ready to talk with Kyiv, as we have always done."

"I personally hold the opinion that it is better to let Russia and Ukraine negotiate directly. They are negotiating the exchange of bodies of fallen soldiers and prisoners of war. And there are issues on which we do not want to pressure them,"

the diplomat said.

He also commented on the situation in Ukrainian-Polish relations. According to Sikorski, neighboring countries should overcome the dispute and focus on their common enemy in Moscow.

"It is not about people throwing themselves into each other's arms. It is about a decision not to repeat bad things and to find a better common future. And it is in this spirit that I hope we can resolve the issue with Ukraine. We must not let Putin exploit our differences," the Polish Foreign Minister concluded.

Recall

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski does not rule out that Russia may orchestrate a provocation against its own territory to create a pretext for an attack on one of the NATO countries.
