In Brovary, parents of children with special educational needs (SEN) are actively involved in the educational process as members of support teams, participating in events, workshops, projects, and meetings that promote integration and development of a barrier-free environment for children. This was reported to UNN by the Brovary City Council.
Details
According to the city council, during the meetings of the support teams, important issues are discussed regarding the need for infrastructure changes and the comfortable stay of students with special educational needs.
In addition, Brovary educational institutions regularly host events for children with SEN and their parents aimed at psychological support and cultural development.
For example, the event "Psychological Support for Children with the Help of Specially Trained Dogs" was held for children with special educational needs in Brovary, where children and parents could receive support from specialists from the Central Dog Training Club of the NGO "Society for Assistance to the Defense of Ukraine" K-9 Center 4.5.0. This event was organized with the assistance of ALPS Resilience, which implements a project on psychosocial support for children in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv regions, with the support of the Humanitarian Foundation for Ukraine.
Various master classes are also held regularly. For example, children with SEN together with their parents participated in the creation of a motanka doll "Spring Berehynia". The master class was conducted by folk artist Valentyna Lesyk. Students, parents and teachers also painted pictures with spoons, inspired by the works of Lina Kostenko.
These were not only creative events, but also a way for children and parents to learn how to cope with stress and develop motor skills through folk art.
The participation of parents in such projects helps create an atmosphere of support and cooperation in the educational process, Brovary City Council notes
We also regularly conduct surveys among parents to improve the educational space for children with SEN, which allows us to take into account their wishes and needs.
